Education and Experience
A native of Augusta, Dr. Trotter attended the University of Georgia and graduated from the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) School of Dentistry in 1973. Upon graduation he was elected to membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. After practicing general dentistry for six years, he returned to MCG for a two-year residency in orthodontics and has been in the private practice of orthodontics since 1981. In December 2021, after 40 years in orthodontics and 50 years in dentistry, Dr. Trotter retired from patient care. He remains involved in the treatment, planning and administrative side of the practice.
Dr. Trotter participates in 40-50 hours of continuing education each year in order to provide the best and most efficient treatment techniques for his patients. He is also a part-time assistant professor of orthodontics at Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University.
Honors and Awards
Dr. Trotter is one of 30% of the nation’s orthodontists who have achieved certification by the American Board of Orthodontics. He is past president of Augusta Dental Society, The Dental College of Georgia Alumni Society, and The Dental College of Georgia Orthodontic Alumni Association. He is a recipient of the MCG School of Dentistry Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Georgia Dental Association Honorable Fellow Award.

Outside the Office
Dr. Trotter and his wife, Anne, have three sons— Jim, Dennis, and Paul— and eight grandchildren.
Dr. Trotter is a member of the Augusta Area Chamber of Commerce, Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, and St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. He is an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan and enjoys playing golf-- especially with his sons and grandchildren.
